Gaia Movement

Calm movement, quiet strength.

About Me

I’m Gabrielle, a Pilates teacher based in Calne. My journey into movement began through contemporary dance, where I trained and worked as a professional dancer. Pilates found me early, quietly supporting my body through years of training — helping me move with strength, resilience, and awareness.Becoming a mother in 2023 shifted everything. Movement slowed, softened, and deepened. Pilates became my foundation — a steady, grounding practice that restored strength after pregnancy and reconnected me to my body with care and patience.Today, Pilates is the heart of my teaching. Alongside this, I’m deeply interested in somatic movement and improvisation, and I occasionally offer or facilitate dance-based workshops that explore movement in a more creative, expressive way.I teach Pilates in group classes and one-to-one sessions across Calne. My teaching is rooted in cultivating body awareness, gentle strength, and freedom of movement. I guide people toward feeling more at home in their bodies — building mobility, confidence, and a sense of quiet empowerment through mindful, intentional movement.

FAQs

Do I need experience to join a class?
No experience is needed. Each exercise is taught in layers, allowing you to work at a level that feels right for your body. This means classes are suitable for beginners through to more advanced movers, with space to explore strength, mobility, and challenge at your own pace.
What should I bring?
Just yourself and some water. Mats and any equipment needed for class are provided, so you can simply arrive and move.
Are your classes suitable during pregnancy or after birth?
Yes. My classes include pregnancy-safe options and supportive modifications. If you’re pregnant or postnatal, just let me know before class so I can guide you safely and with care.
What happens in a one-to-one session?
A one-to-one session is fully personalised to you. We focus on what your body needs most — whether that’s rebuilding strength after pregnancy, supporting an injury, improving mobility, or working on specific goals. These sessions move gently at your pace, with space to explore each movement with clarity and confidence.
Can I book a one-to-one if I’m a beginner before joining a group class?
Absolutely. Many people choose to have a private session first to feel more comfortable, learn the basics, and understand the layered approach I use in class. It’s a lovely way to build confidence before moving into a group setting.
Where do one-to-one sessions take place?
I’m happy to come to you for a home session, or you’re welcome to come to my home studio in Calne — a calm, comfortable space designed for focused, personalised movement.
Do you have a cancellation policy?
Classes are booked in blocks to keep the group consistent and ensure everyone has a space.
If you miss a class within your block, unfortunately the class cannot be refunded. However, if space allows, you are welcome to attend the other weekly class as a catch-up.
If you know in advance that you won’t be able to attend part of a block, please let me know where possible.

Workshops and Creative Movement

Alongside my Pilates teaching, I offer workshops that explore movement in a more creative, expressive way. Rooted in my background as a contemporary dancer, these sessions draw from somatic practices, improvisation, and guided exploration. They create space to move with curiosity, to listen inward, and to reconnect with the body in a deeper, more intuitive way.

Workshops appear throughout the year and can also be booked for community settings, wellbeing events, and workplace connection days, offering a gentle, grounding way to support movement, presence, and shared experience.I’m always open to collaboration with other artists and wellness practitioners, and I love creating sessions that respond to a particular space, group, or intention. These workshops may include:

  • somatic-based movement exploration

  • guided improvisation

  • creative dance sessions

  • grounding movement for nervous system support

  • postnatal or gentle expressive movement

  • community or workplace connection sessions

  • collaborative workshops with artists or wellness practitioners

If you’d like to discuss a workshop, collaboration, or upcoming event, you’re very welcome to get in touch.
